Many animals know that a tsunami or an earthquake is coming because they can either feel it in their feet, or they can hear it. This is when their instincts kick in. Elephants, although lumbering giants, are able to escape tsunamis more efficiently than humans. They feel the rumbles through their feet and go into survival mode. They instantly head for higher ground where ever that may be. It is a known fact that because of their instincts, more people die in natural disasters than animals every year.
